Scholarship Guidelines for Academic Year 2012 - 2013
The Scots’ Charitable Society of Boston (SCS) Scholarships may be awarded to persons of Scottish extraction for Undergraduate College studies or for studies at an approved Trade School. The Applicant must be sponsored by a member who is currently active in the Society.
The SCS application should be completed and mailed via USPS to the Chairman of the SCS Scholarship committee, Joseph MacLeod at 16 Imperial Court, Westborough, MA 01581. The completed application and following required documents should be mailed with a legible postmark dated no later than Monday, April 2, 2012 – no exceptions..
#1 - All applicants - Latest school-certified Grades and GPA mailed from school on school letterhead.
#2 - All applicants - A letter from the applicant’s sponsor in support of the applicant.
#3 - High School or Trade School applicant – obtain a Letter of Recommendation from your Guidance Counselor or a Teacher on school letterhead.
#4 - An applicant already in college or an approved school – obtain a Letter of Recommendation from a Professor or Instructor. SCS Chairman’s suggestion – Request Letters of Recommendation early !
#5 - A signed copy of this sheet.
Applicants are requested to participate in a short interview conducted by the Scholarship Committee. Qualified applicants will be invited by mail with date, location and a time slot.
Recipients of scholarships (or stand-in and/or family) are requested to attend the Award Ceremony held at a location to be announced.
An Application must be submitted for each eligible Academic Year. Scholarships are allotted based solely upon funds available.

If awarded a scholarship, I will, to the best of my ability, complete my program of study. I realize this scholarship is to be used for educational purposes only. If unable to use the scholarship monies toward undergraduate studies, the monies will be returned to the SCS.
